Weekends do not need a booking or a budget line. Here is where to start with Silent Book Club Jr. and other free family moments across Lagos.

Lagos weekends fill up fast, and not every outing needs a booking or a budget line. Silent Book Club Jr. runs free every Sunday at 2PM, alternating between The Side Bar by Miskay in Lekki and Pocho in Gwarinpa, Abuja. Children bring a favourite book or pick one on arrival, settle into a quiet hour of reading alongside other young readers, and leave with a little more of the world in their heads. Reserving a spot in advance helps us know how many readers to expect, but there is no cost to attend.

Painting afterwards is available for anyone who wants to stay on and create, though it is entirely optional. Some children read and go, others read and paint, and both are the right way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Beyond the book club, one-off free sessions and community days pop up across our Lagos and Abuja venues. These tend to fill quickly once announced, so checking back on the site is the best way to catch them.

If your family is newer to Lagos, or simply looking for a slower kind of weekend, a free Friday reading hour followed by a wander through Victoria Island or Gwarinpa is a good place to start.
