A plan for the weekend that is not the same mall, the same playground and the same afternoon. KidzPaint runs guided creative sessions for children across Lagos Island and the Mainland, plus two free Sunday clubs that anyone can walk into.
Two things run at no cost. Silent Book Club Jr. at 2PM, where children read quietly together and then talk about what they read. Chess Hour at 3PM at Alali Studio in Victoria Island, built for dads, grandfathers and anyone who wants a board and an hour. Neither needs a booking or a first purchase.
The paid sessions are the ones that end with an object. A painted canvas, a clay pot, a poured candle, a tie-dyed shirt, a tote bag. A teaching artist runs the room, materials and aprons are ours, and the cleaning up is not your problem.
Several venues put a plated meal and drinks inside the session price, which turns an activity into the whole outing. The venue cards list what is covered, and the area pages compare them side by side so you can see where the money actually goes.
When school stops, the camps start. Multi-day creative camps run at Easter, over the summer and at Christmas, in Lagos and Abuja, with drop-off from age 7.
